Florian is a Doctoral Researcher at SOAS University of London and a member of the SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance. His primary research focuses on the transition of the Chinese economy towards achieving net zero emissions and the resulting impact on China's financial system. Florian is also interested in analyzing China's interactions with the global economy and its influence on global financial markets.In addition to his academic pursuits, Florian is active as a Consultant specializing in development finance, with a particular emphasis on sustainable finance in emerging economies. He has collaborated with international organizations, including the French Development Bank (AFD), the World Resource Institute (WRI), the German Development Agency (GIZ), and various private sector associations. Florian has contributed to the development of climate finance facilities, financing schemes for renewable energy projects, and the establishment of eligibility and monitoring frameworks.Florian holds an MSc in Economics from Sorbonne University in Paris and Fudan University in Shanghai. He gained experience as a research assistant in Germany’s leading think tanks for global economic and development research, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) and the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS). Florian is a native German speaker, fluent in English, with full working knowledge of French and Mandarin.
