As a Senior Project Architect and Managing Director of Heise Architecture, I've gained extensive experience in all aspects of Architectural Design and Practice Management. Point Clouds Australia is my point cloud, and laser scanner hire business. A compliment to Heise Architecture, having access to a LIDAR scanner allows us to capture existing conditions for projects and rapidly deliver concepts that accurately convey the existing conditions. During a recent project, over the Christmas Holidays, we were able to scan the existing context and, bringing the data into Revit, prepare a concept design that responded to the topology. We received the survey information shortly after the successful client presentation.

My boutique game design studio for side and experimental gaming projects is Heise Games. I leverage my architectural experience to create games and quizzes that are entertaining and educational.

As one of the original founders and sponsors of Construction Industry Drinks and Networking. I have helped grow CIDN from an initial concept to a monthly event in three cities and two states in Australia. Providing an informal networking opportunity for the construction industry to share stories, have some drinks and make new connections.

During my time on the QLD RAIA practice committee, I co-chaired PALS and represented and spoke for the smaller practice and younger generation of practice leaders.

I co-chaired and facilitated the postgraduate Queensland Practice of Architecture Lecture Series (PALS) for the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, with my wife, Rachel Heise. During our tenure, we revise the entire curriculum, to include tutorials, workshop scenarios, and lectures by senior practitioners. Our changes to the curriculum proved successful, with the Queensland pass rate for the APE increasing from 56% to over 90%.

As a sessional academic staff member I tutored and lectured in Architectural Design, Technology, Digital Communications, Professional Practice and Sustainability.

While at the Architectural Practice Academy, I was the project lead and designer on numerous health, education, emergency services and public housing projects. During my time at the APA, the Toowoomba Base Hospital Birthing Centre project, which I worked on with Danielle Sturton, won a Project Services Award and a regional RAIA Award, spurring my interest in research-based health projects. I also successfully registered early and was one of the first to finish the APA program six months faster than expected.
