CommunityWorks (formerly Great Lakes Urban) is a Zeeland, Michigan-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strengthens neighborhoods and cities. Our goal is to cultivate a movement that supports and scales the efforts of leaders building inside-out, place-based change. • During my time with CommunityWorks, the organization's revenue has more than doubled resulting in our being able to bring on new staff. With this growth, we have been able to expand our impact from one community when I started to multiple communities across several states. • As Executive Director, I set the strategic direction of the organization, as developed with the board of directors. I ensure the annual action plan and budget are developed and implemented, and that our goals and objectives are met in accordance with our mission and value.• To ensure our impact and growth, I oversee the core processes of the organization, including communications, accounting, program implementation, and resource development. I support and coordinate staff and contractors to succeed in performing their duties.

Central State University is an 1890 land grant university based in Wilberforce, Ohio. The CSU Extension's community and economic vitality programs are designed to build the capacity of communities to engage in and direct their own futures.• Provide entrepreneurial development services and small business consulting to local farms and businesses while assisting local, city and community organizations and businesses in the development and promotion of related activities and events across Ohio. • Build partnerships with local, county and regional agencies, governments, and CBOs. Support 8 regional staff in designing, implementing and evaluating programs related to 4-H & Youth Development, Community & Economic Development, Family & Consumer Sciences, and Ag & Natural Resources.• Support the Statewide CED Program Leader in conducting needs assessments, analyzing feedback and data, developing CED programming, managing 10 CED Educators (when fully staffed), supporting evaluation, reporting and learning tasks, and ensuring impact.

Rural Action's mission is to create a just economy by building on the assets of rural regions in economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable ways.• As lead strategist and vision caster, helped to grow the annual budget to nearly $3 million dollars while helping to secure additional commitments for programmatic and venture supports, including $3 million in funding for a social enterprise and $1.2 million for a placemaking initiative. • Expanded our reach from 18 to 25 counties in a multi-state region, added staff and new program areas encompassing 50 personnel, and achieved our best record yet with 21,714 kids and adults reached through educational programming and nearly 550 farms/businesses served.• Helped lead such collaborative efforts as the Central Appalachian Network which, among other accomplishments, developed a local food network that supported 1,227 producers or food businesses earning $29.7 million in sales revenue to support 1,172.5 full-time jobs.

Think Tank, Inc. exists to alleviate poverty by equipping communities to embrace mindsets and practices that restore the social fabric of society. • Helped turn an initial investment of $75,000 into a commitment of $104 million in revitalization services in Ohio neighborhoods while engaging over 2,000 residents, equipping 40 civic leaders, and mobilizing 350 parent volunteers annually to perform over 100 action projects.• Impacts included a 43% drop in felony crime in the area, a 75% increase in parent participation in school functions, and a “B” grade in 2016 (up from an “F” in 2010) for annual yearly progress for a pilot school, all resulting in the acclaim of such national entities as the Magic Johnson Foundation.• Programmatic outcomes included the launch of a fatherhood collaborative that exceeded its targets by 300% and received Ohio Commission on Fatherhood commendations and an urban ag initiative that engaged 40 residents and 200 youth to grow, eat and sell fresh produce in food deserts.

Compelled by a deep passion for justice & mercy, World Renew joins with communities around the world to renew hope, reconcile lives, and restore creation.• Increased partner budgets by 57% from international grantmakers through grant writing and networking while utilizing a blend of team building and group process, organizational consulting and staff coaching, and budget analysis activities to equip partners to effectively implement programs. • Managed all organizational assets of the Arua satellite office – including World Renew’s office space, office equipment, and a company vehicle – as the single representative to the northwestern region of the country, while also supervising three Ugandan office support staff.• Effectively supported 115 communities to implement projects (including agriculture, savings and credit, literacy, health, and leadership) by building partner capacity in such areas as results-based management, monitoring, evaluation and learning, board development, and more.

A national non-profit organization dedicated to helping people help themselves by providing quality education, training, and employment services to empower disadvantaged individuals. • Assisted the Director of Adult Education in leading a ten-person team dedicated to providing employment services to over 200 underemployed individuals on a yearly basis. Both staff size and contracts awarded doubled during my tenure due to outstanding programming. • Developed curricula to meet the needs of adult learners. Facilitated engaging curricula for career exploration programs, Bridges Out of Poverty seminars, Getting Ahead focus groups, and more. Selected as one of only three trainers for a multi-sectoral community sustainability initiative.• Helped participants create realistic plans and set, pursue, and achieve life and career goals through assessments, one-on-one mentoring, and by networking them with other services and organizations. Helped develop job orders and match candidates to opportunities.
