Technical Support, assisting customers with the most basic account functions (FTP, Email setup, getting logged in etc) to much more complex VPS and Dedicated server software issues.

I work in a virtual call center environment, remotely helping people with their technology issues. I spend a lot of time helping people get their wireless networks running and also with virus removal and general help.

As an on site technician and consultant, my job duties required me to help both business and home clients with their PC issues. Windows XP, Vista, and 7 are among the operating systems used by clientele. My job required me to build relationships with customers and sell equipment and services as necessary. I have successfully sold service contracts and other services to clients.As a tech I have become intimately familiar with issues concerning users of all types. I have gained familiarity with network configurations of QuickBooks and other industry specific software including insurance and quote estimation software. Removal of viruses, spyware, root kits, and other malware in general is among my strong points, but I excel in handling difficult hardware issues. I have also planned and supervised installation of physical cabling and termination of small offices and homes.

I started out with Amhosting.com working for the original owner, Brian Fairchild in April of 1999. Starting part time as a technical support representative, I was the first employee. At the time, the company had less than 200 web hosting customers. By September of 1999, we had 1000 web hosting customers. By this time I was responsible for manual installation of new accounts and taking care of billing issues as well. By September 2004, the company had 10,000 web hosting customers and I was second only to the owner, who by now had a staff of 6 employees. I oversaw customer service issues (taking the bulk of the “angry customer” type calls) and liaised between our Senior Administrator and the tech support staff which I led. In this administrative position I was responsible for both customer and employee relations. I was also responsible for hiring (and firing) of employees and interviewing new candidates. During my employment here, I worked on Linux distributions from Red Hat 6.0 to CentOS 5.1, Debian, Fedora Core and built hundreds of servers for ourselves and our customers. I was responsible for design and implementation of all of our servers that were Linux based. I also designed and built the servers and OS installations for our dedicated server customers, as well as provide management for the customers who bought it. I have extensive Linux administration skills and experience. I have working knowledge of Apache, MySQL, Exim, Qmail, Postfix, SSH, and a great many other programs required to run Linux servers, including installation and administration of the cPanel/WHM, Plesk, and ISPConfig control panels. I have experience writing shell (sh/bash) scripts for the purpose of server administration and task automation such as backups, security, watchdog scripts and automated administration programs.
