I led Summit's first internal software development team. My responsibilities included the establishment of agile software development practices, technical leadership and oversight, team leadership, and, of course, software development. I collaborated closely with Summit employees to ensure that our frequent software releases were satisfying the need and to acquire insight into outstanding requirements.

I served a client to develop features and evolve their web-based GIS application on a part-time basis.

I participated in adding features and fixing bugs in a large multi-tier application that serves the energy industry. Within a month of beginning at OpenLink, I began assisting the architecture team in diagnosing and fixing intricate threading bugs and performance problems using WinDBG.Our scrum team was responsible for the vanguard effort to develop web-based features for OpenLink's RightAngle software. As one of the cornerstone developers on the team, I was responsible for designing features, programming them to completion, and mentoring other developers, especially in applicable web technologies.

At SST, I served primarily as a senior-level Developer/Engineer, designing, authoring, and leading other developers in building application features in desktop- and web-based software. I worked closely with business analysts to create and refine requirements. I also worked closely with the chief architect and lead DBA to define high-level "strategic" architecture. I created tasks for other developers to execute on, and was responsible for many details of internal API design. I introduced and championed dependency injection, and use of a mocking framework in our unit tests.In January 2013, I earned a promotion to the position of Software Architect in recognition of the work that I had already been performing in the areas of technical leadership, API design, and requirements analysis.Technologies I frequently used at SST include: C#, Javascript, CSS, SQL (Oracle and MS Access), LINQ, WinForms, WPF, Ninject, Rhino Mocks

I served as a senior engineer or lead programmer on a variety of projects while at SolarWinds. The most significant of which, the Engineer's Toolset, included a large Windows Forms application thatmade heavy use of multithreading, asynchronous network I/O, highly reactive UI, and innovative infographics. Another, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, required careful performance tuning to maintain analysis throughput of up to 2 gigabytes per hour. I also oversaw a team of offshore engineers while working on this product.During my four years at SolarWinds, the company went from a privately-held company withless than 50 employees in a single office to a publicly-traded company with hundreds ofemployees and offices on three continents. During this period, I remained productive amidsignificant changes in management structure, process, and company culture. My role requiredfrequent customer interaction via forum posts, email, telephone, and GoToMeeting, where Icollaborated with network engineers and IT pros to maximize the value they gained from ourproducts.
