Manager of HSSE for a large office of 100 management staff, 1,000 blue collar staff and over 5,000 daily visits by outside contractors / visitors. Fast paced environment that required switching topics of focus without losing progress of on-going projects. Managed daily safety of large construction projects, including a half of a mile long wharf and new 24 lane gate project. Both projects required understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Handled contractor selection based on HASP’s, JSA’s, and Risk Assessments. Reviewed and approved Lifting Plans, Fall Protection Systems and Plans, Confined Space Entry work, Contractor Safety Inductions, Hot Work Permitting. Coordinated a $1 million dollar radio communication upgrade plan that included 1,100 pieces of equipment. Completed a plastic reduction plan across all departments eliminating 60% of single use plastics on site. Coordinated annual Beach Cleanups with both white- and blue-collar workers to improve cleaner water quality standards in alignment with corporate goals. Maintained compliance with NJ DEP regulations in regard to air, water and soil, by managed relationships with several vendors and direct contact with state officials. Liaison to an app developer that created a mandatory safety video for all contractors, ensuring compliance by integrating it into our gate operating system database. Updated and maintained Facility Security Plans and worked with government agencies including USCG, CBP, TSA and more in our semi-annual MASFO. Assisted in renegotiated union labor contracts to allow greater flexibility of security staff and salary payments of roundsmen security officers. Upgraded the building security key FOB system to allow appropriate access to building resources. Lead incident investigations including High Potential’s and Life Altering Incidents, with the use of witness statements, CCTV footage and scene evidence. Wrote and implemented several SOP’s including training programs for all.
