My interest in neuroscience begun during my bachelor’s in biotechnology. To dive into the area, I joined the Neurochemistry and Cell Biology lab at the Federal University of Bahia. In 2019, I did my first undergraduate research, which I studied about the neuroprotective action of flavonoids against damage induced by endogenous neurotoxins involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. I remained in the laboratory for two and a half years as an undergraduate student. During this period, I investigated the viability of neurons and glial cells in-vitro, including their morphology, expression of proteins, such as DT-diaphorase and Alpha-synuclein, after treatment with aminochrome (endotoxin) and flavonoids (rutin and apigenin). In January of 2022, I started my master's philosophy degree in the Multicentric Postgraduate Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Federal University of Bahia. Currently, I investigate the role of Dichloromethane Extract of Amburana cearensis seeds (EDAC) and coumarin in the regulation of astrogliosis markers and MAPK pathway related proteins in an acute model of ischemic stroke.
