About Filippo Maggi
Filippo Maggi obtained his PhD in Aerospace Engineering “cum laude” at the Politecnico di Milano. He spent most of his career working at the Space Propulsion Lab of the Politecnico di Milano. His research activity targets the field of aerospace chemical propulsion (solid, hybrid, and storable liquid). Application of innovative energetic ingredients (such as metal hydrides, boron-based compounds, activated metal fuels, or nanostructured materials) as well as optimization of micron-based energetic compounds are addressed through thermodynamics, experimental characterization, or by developing specific tools for modeling and characterization of heterogeneous material microstructure (spatial statistics, packing codes, shape-factor characterization, etc.). Filippo Maggi is work package leader in two ongoing FP7 European projects (HISP e SPARTAN), he cooperated with national and international past projects (FIRB, PRIN, FP7 ORPHEE, WP leader in FP7 proposal PYROMET), he visited for one year as a visiting scholar the CSAR (Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets) located at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he has been the executive manager for some past and current contracts with private industries, and he is academic advisor of the PSLF Team (Propulsion System Liquid Fed) of ESMO (European Student Moon Orbiter), a project of the European Space Agency and is in charge of teaching activities as instructor at the Politecnico di Milano for several years in the field of airbreathing and space propulsion. He authored several papers published on international journals and performed reviews for high-level international scientific publications.Specialties: Experimental research, developing of computational applications, heading groups of master students, some website maintenance.
Listed skills include Experimental Design, Latex, Matlab, Fluid Dynamics, and 14 others.
