Frederico Meireles is a Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). His research interests encompass urban outdoor space design and evaluation, recreation and salutogenic environments. He has numerous scientific and technical publications and has contributed to several research projects and networks in these fields.Since 2001, he has taught landscape design at UTAD, where he currently serves as Vice-Director of both the Master’s in Landscape Architecture and the Bachelor’s in Sustainable Design.A landscape architect with a PhD in Landscape Architecture, he has maintained an active professional practice, collaborating with various design firms. He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Landscape Architects (APAP).He coordinates LOCUS, a UTAD-based lab focused on applied research and extension services, specialising in Green Space, Health, and Inclusion, which he co-founded with experts from fields including physical health, psychology, sociology, social work, anthropology, and culture. In 2024, he was appointed Director of UTAD’s Botanic Garden.He is also the current President of the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools (ECLAS), elected in september 2024
