Avatar is a full service digital agency founded in 2001, has more than 120 employees distributed among its offices located in Buenos Aires, Chile, México and Miami, and a wide range of clients, including several of the top 100 brands in the world, including Coca-Cola, Disney, Bayer, Intel, Natura, ESPN, Sony, Metlife, MasterCard and Telecom among others.

I was in charge of developing and implementing the acquisition strategy for SCI’s expansion into Latin America. I selected targets with established brands in the ABC1 segment to corner the market ahead of Stewart, the immediate competitor. We acquired sixteen companies in Argentina, four companies in Chile and finally two in Uruguay over a fourteen-month period. I implemented the operating merger of the sixteen companies in Argentina, establishing unified business criteria, procedures and cultures while providing adequate professional staffing for the new corporate structure. SCI had financial difficulties in the US and abandoned its expansion policy at a time, when the entire market study was ready, for the main cities of Brazil.

As President and CEO of Parque Memorial (Jardin del Pilar SA), I organized a sales force of 300 people with 8 locations in Buenos Aires, developing a premium brand with a completely new product. The greatest challenge was to impose the park product in a market with deeply entrenched cultural traditions that had been imposed by the City Government with public cemeteries. The marketing, advertising and press strategy was supported by several community events directed to various affinity groups. Some of the events included classical music concerts in the park, organization and sponsorship of painting contests in Buenos Aires private schools, TV programs with cultural content exposing the new park concept, and charity activities with both the Church and Municipalities. These and many other marketing actions transformed “Memorial” into a premium brand, associated with dignity, elitism, tranquillity, perpetuity and tradition. Jardín del Pilar was ranked 32nd among the most profitable corporations in Argentina by Mercado magazine in the 1994 edition of the 500 most profitable companies. The company was sold to Service Corporation International in 1997, as leading case for SCI’s penetration of the Latin American market.

Acquired a majority stake of an oil company listed in the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange. The company’s main asset was the field Neuquén del Medio, a secondary area privatized by YPF - Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales. I exploited the field and sold my shares in1990.

Founded my brokerage and trading house during the hyper inflationary period, specializing in arbitrage of sovereign bonds, foreign exchange and hedging strategies through forwards and derivatives. The trading desk had 8 full time traders.The company was deactivated in 1986 in order to dedicate myself to the oil business, as a consequence of the privatization secondary fields of YPF.

I was in charge of the full financial and treasury exposure of the Bank, focusing on bond arbitrage and foreign currency swaps. I managed the Trading Floor of 14 traders and over 200 direct lines to customers and other financial institutions in a period of extremely high inflation and interest rates. Some of the clients and counterparts were Citibank, Bank of America, London, Bunge & Born, Continental, Alpargatas, Celulosa Argentina and Renault.
