This wide-ranging role included everything from EU leaders' summits to Europe's largest potato trade fair. I also covered food, arts and culture for the weekend section. Led our coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, with an impressive number of page views for our liveblog. An enthusiastic contributor to wsj.com Real Time Brussels, my contributions to the blog were widely shared and commented on. Radio and TV appearances included Sky News, RTBF, BBC News Channel and BBC World Service.

I covered the European Central Bank and policymakers across the continent. Assignments included the G20 meeting of finance ministers, EU summits, ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet speaking at the Moroccan Central Bank’s 50th anniversary, interviews with Eurozone central bank chiefs and finance ministers, as well as handling economic data and ECB rate-setting meetings. I also spent six months on the Technology Team covering some of Europe’s largest blue-chip companies.

Following my promotion from correspondent, I helped the France/Benelux editor manage the team and covered all aspects of financial and regulatory news. I led coverage of ECOFIN meetings, parliament hearings and conferences both in Brussels and abroad, and processed eurozone and Belgian economic data. I attended the commission’s daily press briefing and was responsible for Belgian equities, in particular the telecoms and financial services sectors, which involved interviews, markets news and AGMs.

Working in the English department of a small, young company specialised in financial translation. Documents included annual reports, marketing material, press releases and economic reports; clients included leading banks, asset management firms, financial regulators and federations -- as well as the odd cosmetics company for a bit of a change!
