Francisco was considered an Engineer for Production before an intern. A lot of times an intern will be put in a role that is essentially no different than a full time position, along with all the responsibilities that come with it. He filled the role of Zone 3 Production Engineer and really did get hands on experience out on the shop floor. Zone 3 includes the rear doors and sliding door production line, the hang on parts line (fender, hood, doors), as well as the rework line. One big topic he was lead on was optimizing the fender and hood apex tooling hanging process. Before he came, there were many issues with quality faults on the mounting process. He lead this topic, getting all the internal and external support to manage it. This included gathering measurements of the tooling, measuring parts and getting spec sheets to check supplier quality, as well as having teams work on the robots and the apex tooling apparatus. He was also very eager to get involved in other projects other than his own, many of which he helped me personally with. I was able to depend on him to get stuff done, and to be honest, he was more reliable than some of my other full time colleagues. Francisco fit in well with our team. We all worked very close together, and very well together. It was disappointing to see him go, both because it was great working with him, but also because he was an essential part of the team that we had to find a replacement for."
