Folami Small (also known as DJFolami), a native of New York City, possesses extremely unique skills that are crucial in new global hospitality industries. In New York City, a craft was being fine-tuned. After bar managing and excelling at making cocktail menus (in a pre-mixologist New York City), a specialization in opening fine dining restaurants was realized, primarily in the Flatiron District. The realization that the proper selection of music, in a specific space , not only influenced the atmosphere of a room (at specific times of the day or evening), could, with a bit of curation, transform a dining situation into a sophisticated boîte for New York City's new upwardly mobile elite.The ability to transform a given space with the right amount of talent into a multitude of revenue centers in a given day became a passion.A self-motivator, a love of music was parleyed into learning the mechanisms of record labels (thanks to a stint interning at the seminal house music label, King Street Records). Eventually talent buying and curating parties came to fruition.Most notably, Folami opened the legendary Guernica Nightclub in the East Village of NYC, setting a standard of having talented artists such as Kevin Saunderson, Ritchie Hawtin, Christian Smith, Miss Kitten, Magda, DJ Spinna, Osunlade, Rainer Truby, Neil Aline, King Britt, DJ Lina, Junior Sanchez and other personalities grace it's threshold. Getting involved with the Community Board ensured that spaces sharing the same excellence of music blossomed (most notably Plant Bar/DFA Records).Relocating to Aspen, spawned a new world of music curation. For over a decade, DJFolami was the Music Coordinator at the Caribou Club (America's premiere Private Members Club), and enjoys opening for a variety of artists at the Belly Up Aspen (a live music venue voted by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of America's Best Live Music Clubs), and traveling to play venues in cities such as Paris and Madrid.

Being one of their 'to go to' artists at their inception, she still continues to share her unique aural vision while complementing the wide ranging artists of different genres of music that she opens for. During her decade long tenure at the Internationally Renowned and Iconic Private Club, The Caribou Club, Folami Small helped to change the perception of American Private Clubs. Her expertise in hospitality management and in boutique record labels set an undeniable standard in the way that Aspen (in particular) spend their respites. She had the brevity to sculpt every aural moment that their exclusive and well traveled clientele encountered. Her meticulously selected dining soundtrack set the tone for the entire evening, blending standards such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, and Louis Armstrong, to forecasting modern tracks that the well heeled members who enjoy their annual excursions in places such as St. Tropez, Monaco, and Paris became so accustomed to swaying to on their travels. Quite a feat for such a multi-generational crowd.She also excelled at compiling music for their International Cuisine Dinners, which varied from Thai Cuisine to French Cuisine to Polish Cuisine to the foods of Japan. During the evening, Folami seamlessly melded the past, present and future sounds and molded it to the coterie of The Caribou Club, while noticing whom was entering. Her meticulous curating of the 'vibe' of The Caribou Club has been recognized by such periodicals as The Robb Report, Aspen Magazine, and Aspen Peak Magazine to name a few.
