Foluke Michael holds an MSc in Project Management from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and a BBA specialising in Building a Tech Startup from Nexford University. She also completed a Certificate in Design-Led Strategy: Design Thinking For Business Strategy And Entrepreneurship from The University of Sydney, Australia. With a background in Civil Engineering, she has become a prominent figure in promoting sustainable businesses & social impact initiatives in Africa.As the CEO of Caterina de' Medici Africa, Foluke is committed to propelling Africa's transition to a Green Economy. She began her PhD journey in 2024 with a research focus on Green Economy & Digital Sustainability. She is a pioneer of 'Art for Social Good'. She designed and implemented 'Art for Climate Change,' launched in September 2020 by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed. Additionally, she leads the Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI), which focuses on Education for Sustainable Development & Climate Action. Foluke's extensive collaborations with the 1986 Nobel Laureate in Literature, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on various children's and youth projects, including The Vision of the Child, underscore the quality and impact of her work. She spearheads initiatives under CYCDI towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, such as Solution17 and the Green Entrepreneurs.Her projects have won recognition globally, including the United Nations SDG Award as Innovator & the University of Salford Alumni Achievement Award.With a fervent commitment to combatting climate change, Foluke's projects, Art for Climate Action and Naija Climate Now, have received support from the UN and Diplomatic Missions. Her initiative "Solution17 for SDGs" has been recognised twice by the UN as an exemplary practice for SDG implementation. In 2023, she led a Tech-Driven Art for Climate project in partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi.She was recognised as the Hero of Climate Action by the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) in October 2020.Foluke's dedication to fostering creativity and innovation among children and youth is evident in her work, which aims to prepare them to lead positive changes in the future. She is deeply passionate about sustainable development in Nigeria, as reflected in her books "The Green Entrepreneurs" & "The Book of Acts: In the Beginning, The Planet," published between 2021 & 2023. It was unveiled on November 1, 2021, at the Italian Consulate in Lagos during the unveiling of COP26 Virtual Climate Art Gallery. The event preceded Naija Climate Now Exhibition, hosted by Deputy British High Commissioner Ben Llewellyn-Jones in October 2021.Trees from Art (TfA) aims to mobilise young people creatively and innovatively to care for the environment whilst preparing them as green innovators, creators, entrepreneurs, designers and technologists for climate change. The project will introduce Hydroponics Farming and Entrepreneurship Education at the participating schools.The Economic Trees will help restore life quality in school communities, contribute to the environment, reduce climate change, save water, purify the air, provide renewable energy sources, air conditioning, erosion control, reinforce soil and prevent water pollution. TfA aims to Plant 10 million Economic Trees in Nigeria by September 25, 2030.The implementation has begun with the planting of 100,000 trees in Lagos Secondary and Technical Schools The Pilot Project, Trees from Art in Lagos was launched by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State on April 7, 2022. -

One of the key elements of the VoTC is to hear voices of the youth & children and equip them to lead change. The Vision of the Child provides participating children the platform to express their understanding of the world they live in, their vision of what it should be, their dreams and fantasies through Painting and the Literary Arts – poetry, prose, or essay. VoTC is a yearly programme, inaugurated April 2012 with the theme ‘The Vision of the Child’. The maiden edition laid the groundwork for subsequent editions. Subsequent editions and themes were: (2013) -“The Thousand and One Faces Of Corruption” (2014) – “The Rule of Law And The Law Of Impunity” (2015) – “The Road to Sambisa”(2016) - “Sisi-Eko@50:Ageing gracefully? Or Na So So Pancake” - Lagos@ 50 Special Edition. (2017)- Enhance the Heritage, Advance the future One Hundred and Ninety-Three (193) paintings produced by finalists in the previous editions are expected to be mounted permanently in a hall of fame soon. Chief InnovatorNaija Climate Now Jun 2021 - Jul 2023NigeriaNiaja Climate Now commenced in June 2021 with a call for doers, creators, innovators, scientists, students, youths, and entrepreneurs to design and implement sustainable solutions to support climate change adaptation in Nigeria. The project produced thirty-four (34) Climate Action Entrepreneurs. The Green Entrepreneurs were admitted into the Innovation Hub by November 27, 2021, to develop their ideas and create solutions to Climate Adaptation in NigeriaThe project is expected to scale from January 2022 with a projection to create minimum of five million innovators across the Nigeria through Entrepreneurship Network Marketing by September 25, 2030. Each finalist creates awareness towards the actualization of One SDG (Social Impact), in addition to their enterprise (Profit). The project objectives are hinged on problem solving with the application of:• 17 SDGs• 17 Project Participants• 17 Climate Action ideas and;• 17 Climate Action Enterprises for Social Impact and Profit In September 2021, Naija Climate Now birthed ‘Art for Climate Change’ to spur massive action against Climate Crisis whilst creating a platform to promote trade and engagement in rural communities. The Pre-COP26 Exhibition was hosted by the British High Commission at the Residence of the Deputy British High Commissioner Ben Llewellyn-Jones on October 7, 2021. On November 1, 2021, Naija Climate Now launched the first Art for Climate Change Virtual Gallery at the Italian Consulate in Lagos. The Second Phase of the project will commence with Trees From Art and Green Entrepreneurs Market Place in January 2022.
