d'Bien was a small bespoke furniture company that specialised in works that emphasised the beauty of materials. We built contemporary studio pieces as well as period pieces.Where possible we used woods that were part of a "naturally felled" principle - meaning the wood is pulled from the forest only after the tree has fallen of its own accord as can be found in suppliers such as the Lisnavagh Timber project or from a certified sustainable producer.The furniture finishes tended to be natural products such as shellac and beeswax to avoid the use of harsh solvents and industrial chemicals.

Hughes Construction, Inc. is a General Contracting company serving the finest homes of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a relationship driven organisation and a large part of the work is customer communication and management.As an onsite carpenter I worked with clients as well as materials. This was a major change of pace where I decided to step out of the technology world and offices and into the trade world to work with my hands and see client interactions from a different perspective. I enjoyed working as a carpenter, and with Erik Hughes, to such an extent that it shifted my focus away from technology for many years. I have now integrated much of what I experienced these years into my approach towards people and creation even in completely unrelated fields.

Inferscape was an early stage startup that developed a form of Bayesian based inferential AI targeted towards the CRM marketplace. While at Inferscape I worked as an intermediary between the Business Development and Engineering teams to help identify market, design product and deliver to meet industry expectations and client needs.I participated in the team that developed the product strategy for Monterey™, the central data analytics module and key product offering.Working in conjunction with the engineering team, I wrote the White Paper outlining the functionality of the core product offerings. Worked with the Business Development team to identify key valuation milestones in the development path to assist in fund raising.Introduced effective management techniques to accelerate product development best practicesDeveloped strategic partnerships with AllAdvantage and HighTower and assisted in developing beta customer relationship with Pharsight, BeOutdoors.Co-ordinated and assisted with fundraising efforts with Siebel Systems.

Piped Media was a technology company that created mediaSurfer™ a Java based multi-media interface to a web distributed B2B media store. We worked with retail outlets such as United Colours of Benetton to allow them to control the music, messages and advertisements in their numerous stores from a centralised source.As a small startup I was involved in many aspects of the company including the development of the product. We developed relationships with Wherehouse Music and United Colours of Benetton as beta customers and with Sony Music, BMG and ASCAP for digital media license agreements.
