I prepared environmental samples for trace metals analyses on ICP-MS. Following federally regulated protocols I performed distillations, digestions, and extractions on waste water, sediment, food, and organismal tissues daily. I analyzed coal power plant waste water and patented chemical mixtures for cyanide using IC-PAD and trace metals speciation by ICP-MS. In addition to this role I calibrate tools, dispose of hazardous waste, and maintain laboratory workspace and lab equipment in a clean and operable condition. As an intern with WDFW, I assist in conducting research on PNW marine mammals. Specifically, I collect injured and deceased animals, provide care to the injured, and conduct necropsies on the dead. I have experience handling harbor seal pups and older sea otters.
