I directed every facet of the business, including beer formulation, marketing, logo design, packaging design, equipment selection, brewery design, sales programming, government compliance, chemistry and biochemistry lab management, quality assurance/ control, accounting, ERP implementation, building plans and permits, and wastewater management. I mentored many great employees over the years who went on to be successful in the craft beer and other industries.

Created and operated a consulting company to instruct scientists how to execute the novel methods that I published to sort cells by measuring secreted proteins while at Syntex Research.

Palo Alto, Ca

Developed many experimental systems and assays while working in the flow cytometry laboratory. I ran experiments with up to six parameters and reported and interpreted the data collected. I also managed numerous other life science (typically immunology-related) experiments in the lab. This included selection of reagents and control samples and leading discussion of relevant questions related to optimizing the assay design so as to generate consistent, robust, accurate results with the greatest possible dynamic range. I was closely involved in the design of the software that we implemented in the lab to capture and analyze data. While there, I published two scientific articles on the microdrop technique we developed. These methods entailed encapsulating single cells in an agarose matrix that captured secreted proteins. Fluorescent detection of those proteins allowed us to sort individual cells based on secretion profiles, something that had never been done before.
