We’re an independent, locally-owned tour company established in 2010 and based in Nordegg, Alberta. The Explore Nordegg brand focuses on partnerships with other providers to encourage visitors to spend more time in the region.The website provides a growing selection of trail guides, activity guides, itineraries and regional information for visitors along with central booking and packaging options.

Food is part of all great adventures. We try to balance healthy options to take on the trail with more indulgent options to enjoy while celebrating afterward.The Canteen is open year-round, offering take-out with the option for our guests to enjoy their meal in our yard with great views of the mountains. We developed a new framework for The City of Red Deer and Tourism Red Deer to work together to grow the destination that was approved by city council. This included clear expectations for each role, focus areas and stable funding for the organization.

The Waskasoo Environmental Education Society (WEES) operates the Kerry Wood Nature Centre (including the historic Allen Bungalow and the Gaetz Lakes Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary), Fort Normandeau and interpretive programs throughout the Waskasoo Parks under contract with The City of Red Deer.Projects during this time have included:- Hiring of a new Executive Director following the retirement of the long term Executive Director.- Development of a new strategic plan… Show more The Waskasoo Environmental Education Society (WEES) operates the Kerry Wood Nature Centre (including the historic Allen Bungalow and the Gaetz Lakes Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary), Fort Normandeau and interpretive programs throughout the Waskasoo Parks under contract with The City of Red Deer.Projects during this time have included:- Hiring of a new Executive Director following the retirement of the long term Executive Director.- Development of a new strategic plan for the organization with focus on creating stronger brands for each property and expanding markets.- Development of new programs taking advantage of the improvements done in the previous 5 years, including the new exhibits at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Fort Normandeau as well as the Imagination Grove and Harmony Garden nature playgrounds. The latest addition is the Accessible Heritage Community Gardens that was open in 2018 thanks to the support of The City of Red Deer, EPSS and the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.- Negotiation of a new long term operating agreement with The City of Red Deer. Development of a new strategic plan for the organization focused on improving business operations, marketing of the properties and expanding into new markets.

Completed a review and update of all the policies and bylaws for the organization with a focus on simplifying the language and streamlining processes to ensure an effective governance structure for the society. This included an update of the society's bylaws.Developed a succession plan, performance review procedure and hiring process for a new Executive Director following the retirement of the organization's long term Executive Director.

Served as Vice Chair as the society completed major capital improvements to the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, including new permanent exhibits and the addition of the Imagination Grove nature playground.

Some of WEES projects during this period have included the design and building of new exhibits at Fort Normandeau, the implementation of the City of Red Deer master plan for the Waskasoo Parks and the creation of Red Deer's first nature playground.

Worked on a variety of projects involving web design, social media and management, primarily in the nonprofit and sport sectors.We continue to work with select clients on a consulting basis through Pursuit Adventures.

The main purpose of the ASDC network is to coordinate and enhance services available to Alberta's emerging athletes and coaches. These regional centres provide services to athletes and coaches residing in rural and urban areas allowing athletes to develop and train at a high level without leaving home.

Worked on a variety of ski/snowboard coaching and program development project, including with the Red Deer Ski Club.We restructured in 2010 to become Pursuit Performance Consulting and Pursuit Adventures.

Conducted Entry Level and Development Level coach certification courses, professional development sessions and served as mentor/evaluator for the Entry Level and Development Level coach certification programs.

Designed and implemented training programs for athletes at the Fundamentals to Train to Train stages including coach mentoring, supervision and development.Involved in governance at the Board level and the design of governance policies for the organization. Club Management including registrations, grant applications and day to day operations as well as travel arrangements for the teams.Chair of the Race Organizing Committee for the events hosted by the Red Deer Ski Club.

Worked closely with the owners and management in various position throughout the season prior to the sale of the resort. These included:- Lift maintenance and fall preparations including lodge renovations, building and trail maintenance.- Snowmaking operations.- Lift operations.- Guest services, including ticket sales, group sales and daily administration.- Coordinating ski and snowboard instructors, lessons as well as teaching group lessons as required.

Worked closely with the administrative staff to lead the calendar planning process and monitor event quality.

Oversaw one of Western Canada's largest alpine racing program, with athletes competing at all levels from NGSL to FIS.Assisted with various projects as part of the senior management team for the resort.Served as North Zone K1 Programs (2007/08) and Coach Education (2008/09) Representative on the Alberta Ski Coaches Council. Focused on the development of the racing programs for 4 to 10 year old, including the development of coaching plans, delivering training sessions, managing team travel as well as training and managing 15 coaches.Served on the Alberta Ski Coaches Council as the North Zone Entry Level Programs Representative (2003/07).

Seasonal employee at Tunnel Mountain Campground, working various shifts including facility maintenance and visitor services (campground check-in, etc).

Worked at the busy Banff East Gate, selling park passes and doing park pass compliance checks throughout the Banff Field Unit.
