Representing Bytedance and TikTok externally and working with Sub-Saharan Africa policymakers, private sector partners, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other stakeholders on issues of privacy, online safety and cybersecurity, intellectual property, e-governance, content policy, the digital economy, and other technology-relevant public policy concerns.

Strategic function: working together with the SACF leadership team to define the vision, mission and goals of the organisation, in consultation with members.Governance: establishing and overseeing the implementation of a good corporate governance framework for the SACF.Fiduciary: Financial oversight (including audit role); protecting the SACF's assets (both physical and intellectual) and members' investments.

Overall management of the OSF-SA's Media Programme to create and sustain a free, independent, diverse and vibrant media within South Africa that acts in the public interest through a combination of grant-making to media and civil society organisations, public policy engagement, research and advocacy, and media fellowships.Key areas of focus included: Media Freedom and Access to Information; Public Policy Engagement; Content and Skills Development; and New Media and ICTs.

Main responsibilities included: Organising international training workshops for Highway Africa News Agency on issues of ICTs, journalism and the media, including the annual Highway Africa Conference; Editor and team leader for HANA journalist pool responsible for identifying thematic areas of reportage on for the Agency, including ICTs and gender, education, governance, freedom of information; ICTs, privacy and security; and ICTs and development.

Media research, advocacy and training. Main responsibilities included:Responsible for the creation and execution of a research-driven business development plan to support and establish funded collaborations with private, corporate and institutional organisations Providing leadership to professional communications staff, including technical writing, editing, and graphics personnel in support of the Project’s internal and external communications initiatives Giving guidance to colleagues, branches, and special interest groups such as journalists’ organisations, local government organisations etc. on information rights and communication strategiesGiving technical and professional support to advocacy department’s international programme, where MMPZ provides information to the AU, the UN and the EU on information and human rights violations in Zimbabwe.

I was the founding member of Zimbabwe's first ever community radio initiative. As Deputy Station Manager, I was overall in charge of operations and strategic planning for the station. Other responsibilities included:Coordinating outreach/community events, advocacy, stakeholder relations, and supervising a staff compliment of 27 peopleSetting up policies for the budding station, evaluating, and monitoring the station’s strategies/activities/plans, etc.Fund raising, writing up and evaluating project proposals and budgets for station’s funding needsDeveloping the station’s media and communication strategies. This included writing press releases, information sheets and press packs for Radio Dialogue and its activities/events as required, and securing national and local media coverage and high profile support for the station Designed and implemented the station’s baseline survey on radio listening patterns in targeted groups, whose aim was to provide input in programming.Liaising with like-minded organisations, especially the Media Institute of Southern Africa, the Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (ZACRAS), the World Association of Community Radios (AMARC) and the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ) to come up with strategies for the survival and sustainability of community radio stations in Africa.
