I completed my coursework and all but comprehensive exams and the PhD thesis before COVID interrupted my studies. This allowed for reflection and a career pivot to writing and education.

Taught grades 1 to 8 as a substitute teacher in English language arts, mathematics, history, and general science for the Massachusetts public school system.

My studies in psych ranged from endocrinology and epigenetics through verbal priming to ecological, social, and cultural psychology. Apart from my focus in social neuroendocrine systems and my thesis work in priming, I focused on development. I managed experiments and wrote a thesis but also volunteered as a union member, at student support organizations including Out On Campus, and as a member of my many communities (see volunteer experience).

Built Writing Center policy along with two other head consultants; created documents standardizing methods and establishing official job descriptions for consultants.

Advised student writers on revision techniques for argumentative papers, applications, fiction, general writing; designed and presented workshops on writing, revision, and criticism; worked closely with professors on course content, in-class exercises.

Performed basic work in evolutionary biorobotics under Dr. John Long, testing hypotheses regarding icthyological evolution (funded by NSF).

Redesigned online record-keeping system; coordinated with software provider.
