With multifaceted expertise in corporate innovation, research, consultancy, academia, and public speaking, Dr. Fotis Filippopoulos has left his mark in 17 countries on five continents. In February 2017, he received the Highly Commended Award for “Best Provision of Industry Information and Intelligence” at the European Association Awards in Brussels. This recognition was for his research on the Augmented Cooperative Economy, which was commissioned and co-branded by the leading cooperative organizations from Brazil, Canada, and Germany. The project involved 110 cooperatives across 18 sectors and 47 countries. The research was translated into six languages and is listed in HEC Montréal’s CoopGateway, the world’s largest digital library dedicated to cooperatives and mutuals.As a Visiting Professor of Industrial Skills at the PhD school of Politecnico di Milano and of innovation management at the International Hellenic University in Greece, Fotis’s academic roles, in conjunction with his diverse international project portfolio, reflect his well-established expertise in innovation management, business transformation, advanced research methods, consumer behaviour research, and product development. Furthermore, he brings a valuable blend of strategic and innovative insights and toolkits from his formal training on innovation at MIT alongside PhD-level social science research skills from UoG.He is an alumnus of the European Commission’s 2006 official internship program and currently offers his services as an innovation expert (EASME). From 2019 to 2021, he served as the European Commission’s high-level industrial policy advisor for the European Cultural and Creative Industries (DG GROW). As an innovation member of the MIT J-WEL network, Fotis is deeply involved in global innovation.
