About Foundation Pro Geo

Established in July 1992, Pro Geo is an association for students who are enrolled at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen. We aim to plead for the interests of the students within the faculty.Pro Geo hopes to improve the quality of education, student facilities, and more through participation in the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.Please contact a member of the board of Pro Geo or one of your PC student representatives if you need any information.     The Faculty Council is the elected representative and advisory body of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, with influence over key areas such as teaching and education programmes, research, the budget, staffing policy, faculty finances, health and safety regulations, housing, and organisational changes. The Council exercises its right of consent on issues like the Education and Examination Regulations (OER) and faculty regulations, requiring the Board to obtain approval. It also holds the right of recommendation on broader matters such as research and organisational structure, ensuring a strong role in shaping faculty governance.The Faculty Council consists of ten members, with four to five students elected annually for a one-year term. These student members also serve on the board of Pro Geo. Although Pro Geo operates independently of the Council, the elected students represent both bodies, ensuring a unified student voice.
