I am an electrical engineer with over 17 years of experience in applying diverse technologies to uniquely challenging problems, with applications ranging from radiation detection to wildlife monitoring. Areas of expertise include low-power analog/digital circuit design, mixed-signal PCB layout (Altium), embedded firmware (C, C++, assembly), FPGA SoC development (VHDL, Verilog), control software (C#, Java), computationally efficient detection algorithms, and data analysis (Matlab, Python). I have led multi-disciplinary efforts to develop low-profile gamma/neutron sensors, validate alpha/beta air monitoring systems, and deploy spectral anomaly detection algorithms. I also designed the electronics used in injectable acoustic tags for tracking juvenile salmon and lamprey.Career highlights include two R&D 100 awards, fourteen US patents, and numerous technical publications (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3807-3542). I was designated as the Washington State University EECS Outstanding PhD Student in Electrical Engineering in 2006, and was honored by the Washington Society of Professional Engineers as the 2013 Tri-Cities Engineer of the Year. I humbly strive to achieve excellence in all my efforts, and help others achieve excellence in theirs.
