Specialties: - Preventive conservation of collections- Assessments and surveys of collections and environments- Installations and display- Care of collections, including storage, handling, display and monitoring- Database management- Inventories of collections- Conservation treatment of three dimensional artifacts- Classical, Decorative, Contemporary Art.Flavia Perugini has a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Restoration, with a specialization in decorative surfaces, from the Guildhall University of London and a Laurea (Master equivalent) in Architecture from the University of Florence. In 2020 Flavia Perugini joined the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) as a Sr. Project Specialist in the Collections department, focusing on the Modern and Contemporary Art Research Initiative (ModCon). Before joining the GCI, Flavia has worked at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston, where, as an Associate Objects Conservator, she managed the installation of Modern and Contemporary objects, sculpture, and time-based media art. Prior to her time at the MFA, Flavia was a Conservator and the Head of Conservation at Historic Mount Vernon (2001-2006), and the the Gabo Trust Sculpture Conservator at Tate, London, UK (1998 – 00). Over the years Flavia has taught extensively about preservation strategies. In 2016, she founded the Boston Time-Based Media Coalition, and, as the Assistant Program Chair of AIC’s Electronic Media Group, Flavia organized conference sessions at the AIC Annual Meetings in 2018 and 2019. She is a member of INCCA, Fellow member of AIC and IIC, and Assistant Coordinator for the Modern Materials and Contemporary Art Working Group of ICOM-CC.
