Administered US $250 million operating budget. • Increased plant throughput from 1.5 MMTY to 2 MMTY. • Improved alumina quality with a 2.27% decrease in total soda content and a 4% reduction in 45 µ. • Prevented severe environmental damage and likely plant shutdown by building a filtration dike as a temporary fix to a potentially severe caustic water overflow problem. The dike provided additional time to implement a long-term, technical solution.
