About Fr Brian Bartley
I am a Priest of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto who is passionate about reversing the decline of Church and making it relevant once again. I believe it can be done, but we must begin soon; particularly now that secular society considers us to be NON-ESSENTIAL. We did little during the Covid Pandemic to counter that notion.I cannot fully convey what I mean by the above in the 2000 characters LinkedIn allows for this about section. Please do read the opening essay on the homepage of my Blog at https://www.exploringnewmonasticism.com. If possible also read the articles in the section called Covid-Time.Even though I am “young” in ordained Ministry, I believe that I have experiences and skills I bring to the table to help in the task of restoring Church.I am a late vocation. During my other careers I have been a life insurance agent, corporate trainer, Manager of the Financial Planning Department of a major insurance company, business owner, and business executive. I have created para-ministries, and was a board member of a workplace ministry. I have served abroad in a small mission in Sri Lanka, and became its Managing Director, and Hony Superintendent of a children’s home. I have also been a World Jamboreee Scout, a Scoutmaster and a senior officer in a Canadian Infantry Regiment.In my ministry career, I was appointed Deacon-in-Charge of a Northern BC parish just after completing my studies. I have run parish missions, Serendipity Small Groups, Appreciative Inquiry, Re-Imagine Church, and Back-to-Church Sunday with a sustained doubling of my congregation. I also created a "Fresh Expression", Journeys Books, Gifts, and Meeting Place.Currently, I lead Christian Meditation groups and am a member of the National Committee of the Canadian Christian Meditation Community. As a result of Covid, I know much about sustaining groups and programs using ZOOM. Because of all of the above, I am able to Think Outside the Box.For more. see the About section of my blog.
