Our team of fellows were tasked with covering the city’s resilient communities guaranteed income pilot program. We received presentations on community and engagement reporting by veteran Chicago reporters as well as training on research, fact-checking, sending FOIA requests, and data journalism. We produced a two-part explainer on the program for the city and a history on guaranteed income in the US. Our published work earned us a nomination for a Peter Lisagor Award for Best Feature Reporting Series.
