Advanced NTI's Global Nuclear Order project which aims to provide actionable recommendations to reduce nuclear tensions and build a new global architecture that can cope with emerging technologies and a fluid geopolitical environment. Spearheaded efforts to include perspectives from Latin America and the Global South.

Directed working groups promoting continuous improvement, change management, and developing key performance indicators for clients in the public sector using Lean methodology.

Panama City, Panama

Facilitated working group to collaboratively draft a risk management manual for 2024 general elections. Analyzed Panamanian and Latin American history and politics to contextualize scholarship.

Mexico City

Conducted a study comparing United States and Mexican air quality standards for Mexico’s environment ministry. Identified differences and drafted recommendations to standardized air quality regulations with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of the U.S.-Mexico Border 2025 Initiative. Research will be used to draft a comprehensive reform of Mexican air quality regulations. Project was sponsored by Global Career Launch (GCL) at UT Austin.

University Of Texas At Austin

Assist CAMPI Director with data collection, clean up, and analysis. Generating and managing data sets. Plan and conduct informational interviews. Field research in South Texas and in Mexican border cities of Matamoros and Reynosa.Projects Included:- Migrant Kidnappings in Nuevo Laredo: Generated data set of over 580 kidnapping incidents outside of Nuevo Laredo. Assisted with analysis.- Migrant Deaths in South Texas: Traveled to Sheriff’s offices in South Texas to collect data on migrants who die attempting to illicitly cross into the US. Documented over 200 fatalities.- Lateral Flights: Interviewed nonprofit staff and analyzed flight data tracking over 22,000 lateral deportation flights carried out by the Dept. of Homeland Security.

City Performance Unit

Coordinate inter-departmental efforts to revise policy. Assist departments in analyzing data and facilitating policy discussions. Prepare and present written reports communicating project findings and recommendations. Projects Included:- Data Academy:Administered a training program open to all City employees serving over 1,000 employees last year. Taught excel courses with attendees rating me a 4/5 overall on post-class surveys.- Minimum Compensation Order (MCO):Part of a team that allocated $5.8 million dollars to 210 nonprofit City Contractors. Drafted sections of final memo.- Dept. of Public Health Contract Tracker:Process mapped complex contract approval workflows and proposed process improvements. Managed contract budget and contractor who developed an online tool to track new contracts through approval process with workflow functionality.- Fire Dept. Training Facility Benchmarking Study:Benchmarked SFFD’s proposal for a new firefighter training facility against the minimum requirement set by law and industry practice. Interviewed training officials from 8 fire departments. Rendered a data driven evaluation of SFFD’s proposal.- Controller’s Office Racial Equity Working Group:Facilitated feedback sessions with City Performance staff to outline improvements to office culture, recruitment strategy, and hiring and promotion practices to advance racial equity across the department.

Covid Command Center

Serve in multiple roles during COVID-19 emergency. Assignments Included:- Assignment 1: Documentation Lead, Logistics Section, Dept. of Public Health:Documented how requests for resources, including staff, materials, and contracts, were processed and fulfilled for the Dept. of Public Health. Drafted standard work for each position within the Logistics Section. Streamlined and improved the resource request process. Onboarded new staffers.- Assignment 2: Supply Lead, Housing Section, Human Services Branch:Cataloged and ordered supplies for 30+ shelter sites. Assisted data team to introduce a new bed management and health record system tracking over 2,500 individuals to over 40 shelters sites. Data used to inform budget decisions, aid City when claiming funds from FEMA, and record client information.- Assignment 3: Site Planner, Housing Section, Human Services Branch:Managed conversion of two hotels into Shelter in Place (SIP) sites to house homeless individuals as part of California’s “Project Room Key.” Supervised modifications to hotels, coordinated City resources including healthcare, security, supplies, food, and contractor staff. Organized training sessions for City, hotel, and nonprofit staff. Successfully housed 200+ formerly homeless individuals.- Assignment 4 (Current): Lead Analyst, Hotel Demobilization Team, Human Services BranchDrafted the strategic plan and schedule to demobilize 30 SIP hotels and return them to normal hotel operation. Created and oversaw use of project management tools to prioritize tasks and organize tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of staff time, supplies, and contracted services. Lead coordination efforts between Hotel Demobilization Team and various City agencies and contractors.

South East Community Facility

Worked with Community Liaison to design community programming with vendors, communitypartners, and staff. Managed performance metric data and survey data for two of our community programs. Analyzed performance metrics and recommended data-driven improvements.

San Francisco Bay Area

Assisted with management and analysis of survey and wage rate data using Excel. Located beneficiaries resulting in thousands of dollars returned to workers. Drafted policy memos and reports sent to other departments. Developed a database connecting collective bargaining agreements and prevailing wage data.

San Mateo, Ca

Conducted constituent casework involving various federal departments, primarily related to claims filed with the Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, and visa applications with the State Department. Drafted responses to letters from constituents and wrote casework related memos.

Oakland, Ca

Helped Oaklanders navigate the city’s bureaucracy, drafted 50+ proclamations and responses to letters from constituents. Attended various board and commission meetings as a note-taker.
