While performing audits and accounting work in both the public and private sectors, I discovered that I enjoyed answering procedure questions and managing data. Additionally, I have collaborated with technical specialists to brainstorm best practices for data use (ensuring proper data for purpose), readying for analysis, and determining the best format for end-user. I decided that this skill not only interested me but also could benefit the business I work for and decided to pursue a data analysis certificate. In accounting, I have performed accounts payables, reconciliations, schedules, journal entries, and worked with external auditors. While working to complete the duties and special projects like Chart of Accounts set up, reformatting spreadsheet models, and testing or enhancing models with detailed procedures, I found the need for accuracy as well as properly prepared data is paramount for success in all accounting duties. As a contract auditor, I planned the audit from initial engagement thru fieldwork to the final report. The flexibility to tailor data extraction based on the business system, business support capabilities, and staffing, as well as ongoing stakeholder needs, is crucial to success for the stakeholders.As a hospitality night auditor, I performed cash and posting reconciliations, system backups, and nightly management reports as well as attending to guests’ needs onsite and offsite (making reservations and answering property questions).Additionally, while streamlining procedures, I was able to reduce redundancies resulting in decreased completion and/or processing time, ergo, cost savings.Data is everywhere and the volume of data is growing and I think will continue to grow.As a lifelong learner, I would appreciate the opportunity to apply my current and future skills to your organization.
