In this role, I partnered with the Deputy General Counsel and Chief Legal Operations Officer to manage the legal department operations and staff. I was a key advisor to the General Counsel on legal and corporate governance issues, served as Attorney Relationship Manager for the Financial Service Practice Group, and oversaw the Corporate Governance and Insurance Practice Groups.Management Highlights include;► Working with corporate finance on the development of a budgeting process and management of an annual profit plan.► Ensuring proper resource allocation / staffing, managing external legal spend, and identifying millions of dollars in cost-savings measures. Corporate Governance Highlights include:► Recognition as a finalist for the Corporate Secretary’s “2017 Corporate Governance Awards – Best Shareholder Engagement”► Introducing and developing BB&T’s Institutional and Retail Shareholder Engagement Program and coaching Board members for participation in shareholder engagement meetings ► Supporting the implementation of a number of Board initiatives► Spearheading key corporate governance policies and procedures► Managing competitive process to select third party proxy solicitor and corporate governance advisorHighlights within the Financial Services Practice Group include: ► Serving as a key player in successful negotiation and resolution of regulatory matters with FINRA and SEC► Assisting with development and implementation of major regulatory compliance projects► Supporting the legal and operational consolidation of subsidiaries
