About Frances Burden

Frances Burden received her Ph.D. in Crime, Law and Justice from Penn State University in 2009 and a M.P.P. in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary in 2000. For the past ten years, Dr. Burden has served as a statistical consultant on a number of projects in the areas of criminology, criminal justice, education, and public policy. Dr. Burden has conducted research across a broad spectrum of social science issues, including examining neighborhood impacts on parolees in Georgia, evaluating police and neighborhood resources related to status offenders, and analyzing the results from at risk students participating in school-based intervention programs. Dr. Burden has also received the Quantitative Methods certificate from Penn State and additional training in specialized statistics, including hierarchical linear modeling (HLM), structural equation modeling, missing data analysis, and GIS and spatial statistics. Dr. Burden is currently a member of several professional organizations, including: American Society of Criminology (ASC), Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), and American Evaluation Association (AEA), and American Sociological Association (ASA). Dr. Burden has also published in Journal of Experimental Criminology, Violence and Victims, and Prevention Sciences.
