Working with the APNA Advocacy Team (APNA President, CEO, Nurse Ambassador, Corporate Affairs Adviser and Evaluation and Data team) I lead, contribute, develop and respond to policy issues and providing strategic advice, research and relevant assistance to advance the profile and build the capacity of primary health care nurses in Australia

Collaborated on projects involving mental health stakeholder engagement, fostering new partnerships, supporting and developing courses, training and educational resources tailored to clients needs.

Focused on health education and resource development. I developed and customised learning resources for various primary health care audiences and developed and presented numerous face to face workshops, health education for online platforms and have been engaged as a medical writer and reviewer. Target audiences included primary health care nurses, general practitioners, allied health and administrative staff. My clients included Primary Health Care Networks, Peak bodies, State Government and disease specific organisations. I also developed policy and procedures for a number of organisations including not-for-profits and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and developed a number health resources/guides for state based organisations.

Position funded by the Department of Health (Victoria) - Provided educational updates to health professionals (predominantly doctors, nurses, dentists, and some allied health) relating to the blood borne viruses - hepatitis B & C. During this role I developed excellent presentation skills (presenting to both small groups 8-10 people; up to 900 people at a conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre); and developed the ability to respond to questions professionally and with knowledge, while always maintaining my keen sense of humour to hold the audience!

Nurse Educator - delivered and developed education for students enrolled in nursing, disability, pathology and aged care. Also provided clinical supervision and assistance in simulated laboratories as well as in acute and aged care health settings. Singapore Exchange Coordinator - Supported the set up and implementation of an exchange program for Singaporean Division 2 nurses attending Singapore ITE to attend clinical placement through Holmesglen. This included review and mapping Singapore and Holmesglen nursing curriculums to ensure continuity and clinical matching for placement. International Language Liaison - Established and wrote the position description for this role to support international students undertaking the Division 2 nursing course. Key responsibilities included the development of small group workshops to enable students to learn more about English language medical terminology, Australian health culture and practice their communication skills in a safe environment where they could role play scenarios that were relevant to working in health settings.
