Project: WE, also known as The Wilderness Empowerment Project, is an international community enabling everyone to experience and appreciate nature. Our goal is to break down social, monetary and physical boundaries so that a diverse range of people can experience the outdoors. In order to facilitate this, we offer grants to those seeking an educational outdoor experience and share articles by adventure writers to inspire our readers. In the upcoming future, we will be offering our own all-female outdoor expedition program to connect women from different backgrounds and creating lasting memories.

Create lab exercises and exams to teach and test a variety of geological concepts for introductory Earth Science studentsTeach two weekly lab sections, in which I present new information and guide students through exercises using kinesthetic teaching methods

Study common misconceptions within the Earth Sciences, and how deeply they are believed by a variety of student groups in order to improve educational techniques in the classroom

Tutor groups of 5 to 10 students in a variety of high school subjects, in addition to advanced placement and college preparation coursesFacilitate student lead analytical and philosophical discussions to better students’ communication skills and diversify their thought processes

Organize gear and plan routes for weekend to extended outdoor trips for groups of 6 to 10 adultsTrain coworkers in leading and organizing outdoor trips in backpacking, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing, and additional outdoor expeditionsTeach participants the skills necessary for planning and executing outdoor trips

Worked with school groups from the Twin Cities, teaching them about water sustainability, local ecology and glacial geology. Groups would stay for a week and would be brought on hikes and spend time learning in the outdoors about science, medicine, history, and more.
