I hold nearly 12 years of experience in the education field in a variety of capacities, with a Master’s of Teaching in Special Education and a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership. I currently hold a special education generalist teaching license and administrative licensure in the state of Washington. In my current role as a special education facilitator, I provide a leadership role as a district representative in all special education-related meetings and manage timelines and compliance for 150 students with special education services. I create and provide professional development specific to special education for administrators and staff. I support the Special Programs Director in the creation and implementation of district-wide systems to support data-driven, legally defensible, and inclusive practices. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to engage in dispute resolution for the district. This provided me with valuable experience in the creation of programming that is student and data-driven. Throughout my tenure in special education I have worked closely with and supported school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, community services, regional ESD specialists, and behavior specialists to create data-driven student plans; as well as, stronger systems to support students at both the elementary and secondary level. I have had the pleasure of servicing students ages 0-21 with disabilities ranging from minimal support needs to intensive support needs. I have extensive experience in implementing behavioral programs in a variety of settings as well as managing self-contained behavioral programs and providing support to self-contained programs such as life skills, multi-intensive, and social communication. I am able to utilize my special education knowledge and skills to provide administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals with hands-on instructional coaching and problem-solving. I build strong relationships with staff, students, and families that are built on a foundation of mutual trust and putting students’ needs first. The strength of relationships is evident through parent satisfaction with IEPs and parent meetings, increased collaboration, and coaching opportunities with administrators and staff. I have displayed resilience in the field of special education and strive to build systems that support the best outcomes for students with special education needs. I am collaborative and creative in programming while keeping the spirit of IDEA in all decision-making.
