About Frances Lippincott

Flann brings decades of experience in business, design, law, and teaching to her course in design law and licensing. Prior to becoming an attorney, she managed her own international luxury consumer products company and licensed her designs to manufacturers in the mass-market sector. She defended her design patent against infringement, negotiated licensing agreements, held trademarks and copyrights, and closely guarded her trade secrets. The legal side of her business became so important that she decided to become her own general counsel and pursued an MA in intellectual property law followed by a JD and 14 years of serving her intellectual property and business clients. Flann merged her business, legal, and design acumen to teach entrepreneurship, the business of design, and intellectual property and business law at top design schools for almost a decade. Now her mission is to give entrepreneurial designers located anywhere in the world the tools they need to protect their designs in the competitive world of the U.S. marketplace.
