As a Medical Writer, I am involved in all clinical phases of medical device development, including protocol design, study report and manuscript writing, and performing clinical evaluations for the medical device industry.

In my PhD thesis, I have provided a proof-of-concept, which became the topic of the iPSpine Horizon 2020 project (https://ipspine.eu/). The aim of this international project is to develop a treatment that can rejuvenate diseased discs by means of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells). I was co-applicant for this project and executed the role as postdoctoral researcher. I supervised (PhD) students, performed my own research, disseminated scientific results to the general and scientific audience and wrote grant proposals.

Mimicking developmental biology to regenerate the intervertebral disc. Promotors: Marianna Tryfonidou (UU), Björn Meij (UU), Keita Ito (UMC Utrecht, Eindhoven University of Technology) During my PhD, I worked within a multidisciplinary team and specifically looked into treatments based on growth factor-like proteins and a unique cell type: juvenile disc cells. I provided in my thesis the proof-of-concept and this innovative treatment strategy is the topic of the iPSpine Horizon 2020 project (https://ipspine.eu/) that currently takes this strategy a step further. As such, the results of my PhD track had considerable impact on the scientific field and are of interest for both veterinary and human patients suffering from low back pain.
