During my university years, I have always tried to do all sort of things regarding my field of interest: research and rehabilitation inside detention facilities for adults and young people. In those years I have learned how to approach people with legal and psychological issues and I have developed a strong ability of teamwork. In more recent years, I have been dedicating myself to train mental health carers on how to Prevent and Manage Violence and Aggression on the ward environment along with Basic Life Support. These experiences have given me the tools to better understand the mental health panorama in the UK with the aim of reducing restrictive practices, to allow service users to be more independent and empowered in line with the Mental Health Act.I have now joined the research team at City, University of London for an exiting project on how to improve communication during conflicts in mental health inpatient settings with the overarching objective to reduce restrictive practices and to provide evidence based guidance for clinicians and policy makers.
