Public relations and teamwork were among the most important responsibilities of the job. As the job served mainly to enhance the experience of all visitors to Fort George I was required to provide both an enjoyable demonstration of 1812 military tactics as part of a team and information to the public about the role of a British soldier during the war of 1812.

Being a lifeguard required a lot of vigilance and patience as I was taking on role that determined the safety of others. Due to the safety of others also requiring lifeguard to take preventative measures when assuring safety the job also required pool maintenance and leadership to ensure rules were followed.
