Wash Designer & Technical Advisor - Proofs Project
Dhaka
Profitable Opportunities for Food Security (PROOFS), is a Kingdom of Netherlands funded project launched in 2013. iDE, BoP Inc and ICCO all work on different sections of the project. The deliverables for the WASH section of the project, are to commercialise 6 WASH technologies which will help reduce the medical related expenditures of rural Bangladeshi households. The target is for 47,500 of the 80,000 beneficiary households involved in the project to have bought one improved technology by 2017. I am a designer and Technical Adivsor sitting within the iDE-WASH portfolio and the Team Lead for the WASH section of the PROOFS project. My field team and I conduct training sessions and business capacity learnings to the project's 320 private latrine producers (PLPs), in order for them to grow their businesses successfully and sustainably, so that PROOFS' household members have access to improved WASH technologies. As a WASH designer, I work on the research, design, prototype, pilot and commercialisation stages of the PROOFS technologies, along with colleagues who engage the private sector to adopt and launch our products. In this role, I have conducted deep dive research trips and focus group discussions with American scientist Teri Dankovich, our work on her pAge "Drinkable book", was reported in the BBC news.
