− My final fourth year 10-week practicum was completed at Killarney Heights Public School, on a Stage 1 (Year 2) classroom. − This practicum really provided me a great insight into controlling my own class, as I was considered part of ratio and from Week 5 onwards taught the class using my own program. − KHPS is a bilingual school, offering a French ‘Francophone’ program within the classrooms. This offered a point of difference and a chance to further my experience as I was in a classroom with two teachers; one English speaking teacher and one French speaking teacher. − Throughout my practical experience, I was able to learn to meet the learning needs of my students - which included moderating and differentiating the stage one curriculum, developing and implementing students assessment and reporting strategies, and implement curriculum policy and programs where appropriate. The experience of teaching on a stage three classroom provided me with an insight into how learning sequences are conducted and how the curriculum is integrated into the classroom contexts, and most importantly how students learn and ways in which to benefit student learning to the greatest extent.

− My third year Practicum was at Only About Children Mosman, where I spent equal amounts of time in the Nursery (0-2 years), Toddler Room (2-3 years) and Preschool Room (3-5 years). − The innovative initiatives within the Only About Children curriculum provided me with alternative methods to support the integration of child development and educational outcomes for children.

− For my second practicum I was placed in an Independent Boys Catholic school on a Year Six selective class. − In this experience I learnt the dynamics of the classroom, how students learn and develop, the range of learning styles within a classroom context and how best to teach these learners, the administration skills associated with being a teacher and how the classroom operates on a day to day basis.− In this experience I was teaching lessons every day, which helped me gain an insight into the various roles and responsibilities that a teacher holds. Within this experience I learnt to develop a careful balance when establishing relationships with students between empathy and authority. Working with experiences teachers allowed me to develop a professional and collaborative approach in order to develop collegially and continue learning is integral in the teaching profession.
