As a graduate of Queensland University of Technology, I have had the opportunity to teach and observe junior and senior Visual Art and English classes. I believe high expectations and enthusiasm are intrinsically linked to students producing quality work. My goal is to provide a positive environment for secondary students that promotes innovative learning. My objective is to cater to and engage all abilities and backgrounds in their learning by building rapports and tailoring learning to the individual. As a member of the English faculty, I intend to take on the role of encourager and facilitator in the classroom and implement consistent behaviour management strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment. As a student teacher I took every opportunity to develop excellent collaborative skills through volunteering myself for excursions, exhibition installations, verification preparation, photography and observations outside my disciplines, immersing myself in the life of the school community. I hope to involve myself in the College’s extracurricular programs as I believe they are a valuable opportunity for young people to develop their collaborative skills and build self-esteem. I aim to nurture a culture of effective thinking within the classroom to shape the design of rich learning experiences, ensuring my planning and practices align with the objectives of the College’s ethos, policies and procedures. I understand this career path is a lifelong learning process where my practices will be shaped by my experiences. I am committed to bettering myself as a professional to assist children in achieving academic excellence while producing thought provoking and kind individuals.
