About Francesca Viola

I hold an MA in Childhood Studies and Children’s Rights, a MSc in Development Economics and several years of experience with international organizations, The World Bank and UNICEF, and international NGOs, e.g. REACH Impact Initiatives and Terre des Hommes. I currently work for the UNICEF Office of Research - Innocenti in the social and economic policy team.I am also a co-founder of ARTICOLO12 (http://www.articolo12.org/en/) – registered in February 2019Articolo12 is a social start-up promoting children's rights in Italy and beyond, linking the work done by academia with the efforts of policy-makers and other stakeholders in the field. Within the organization I am the focal point for all activities related to child migration.

Transfer Project/GRASSP: I work on impact evaluations of cash transfer programs integrated with other interventions or services (e.g. WASH, gender, child protection, etc.) in Sub-Saharan Africa. I support research activities in Burkina Faso, Mali and Ethiopia. Research skills: designed research studies, prepared all field material, including ethical procedures, developed and tested survey instruments, and coordinated overall field activities. My research interest is particularly focused on the linkages between social protection and child protection issues and migration.Managerial skills: Liaised with UNICEF country offices and members of governmental partners; overall management of projects.2. Child Poverty/Child Wellbeing/Innocenti Report Card and other research in high-income countries: I coordinate a multi-country project on children's experiences and perception of Covid-19 in Italy, Canada, Madagascar, Lesotho and Angola. As part of the qualitative research project in Italy, I worked directly with children by collecting qualitative data with children, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children, children from low socio-economic backgrounds and LGBTQI+ adolescents.
