About Francesca Zampagni

Francesca is currently working as expert on H2020 calls (Research Facilitator) at the University of Pisa, in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.In 2017 she was affiliated as Research fellow at the Institute of Law, Politics and Development (DIRPOLIS) of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy) working on the EU-funded SAFTE project, studying the illicit market of firearms in Europe.In 2016 she has worked as consultant in various EU-funded research projects, after having worked two years in the Research Departement of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Vienna. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Pisa (2013), with a Visiting at the Department of Global Studies of the University of Sussex (Brighton, UK). Her interest: human mobility and asylum, migration bureaucracies, critical security, social struggles and human rights. She has also been working as social worker in the field of reception of asylum seekers in Italy. Through her past experiences in various contexts and countries (Austria, France, Italy, Senegal, UK, Tunisia) she had the opportunity to collaborate with IOs, NGOs and research centres. She also has years of experience in citizen journalism and she is deeply interested in writing and photography.
