I managed a public engagement project funded by the Open Society Foundations which commissioned Polish video artist Anna Konik to make a film entitled 'Silence Heard Loud' featuring the then current cohort of students enrolled at Birkbeck in the process of seeking asylum. The film bought together their stories and experiences of exile and immigration from homes including Palestine, Syria, Ghana, Iran and Sri Lanka whilst providing a platform to empower each student to share their perspective on how access to higher education has been fundamental in rebuilding their lives.
