Francesca Sterling, Consulting Head, Women’s Leadership, DG Talent and Leadership DevelopmentFrancesca Sterling has directed marketing and public relations initiatives for Fortune 100 companies in the technology, retail, medical, and environment sectors. Her clients range from technology companies to the Dalai Lama. Sterling’s career started at a Silicon Valley start-up, Diansonics, Inc., a medical imaging manufacturer. At Broderbund Software, she directing over fifteen new product introductions, including the Carmen Sandiego series.Sterling founded The Sterling Group. Her clients included many Silicon Valley companies, including HP, Silicon Graphics, Apple Computer, Excite @Home, Unisys, Oracle and Genentech, where the “Genentech Goes to Town,” campaign won a PRSA Silver Anvil Award. When the Dalai Lama held his Peace Conference in San Francisco, Sterling co-directed the Public Relations for His Holiness and Tibet House.She’s also coached executives to help them better define their corporate goals. She worked with George Zimmer, Founder, Chairman of the Men’s Wearhouse and his executive team. A $1.3 billion company, it ranks yearly in Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. She developed the PR department and helped the company communicate its business initiatives including its Servant Leadership philosophy. She has also received leadership training from The Center for Creative Leadership. She is on the Advisory Board of The Global Women’s Leadership Network, an organization that has trained women from over 40 countries.From 2006 to 2018,, Sterling spent a major part of each year living in different cities across India, traveling across India, and advising businesses. She has a deep understanding of issues and how to bridge the gap in learning across women in different generations in India and internationally. She is currently on the Board of The World Affairs Council of Northern California, a nonprofit, nonpartisan forum for the public to join leading foreign policy and international relations experts to discuss and debate global issues. Sterling graduated with a B.A. in Communicative Disorders from California State University, with honors and consistently on the Dean’s List.
