AZIMUTH-BENETTI wanted to reduce vibrations on the stern of their medium-sized yacht in order to increase comfort on board.The role I played was to develop a smart stiffened plate model of the yacht stern. After that I synthesized an innovative control law in order to reduce vibrations induced by the propeller on the stern.What’s new is the use of embedded PZT actuators controlled by the voltage in order to counteract the local bend of the stern cause by the incidental pressure waves generated by the propeller.
