Dr. Francesco Basile is a civil engineer with over 25 years’ international experience in geotechnical engineering design and analysis, in both Italy and the UK (with Halcrow, now Jacobs). He is an internationally recognised expert on pile foundation design and analysis, particularly pile groups and piled rafts. Dr. Basile is the author of the boundary element code for REPUTE, the UK’s leading software for pile design used in thousands of major projects worldwide (from the London Wembley Stadium to the Dubai Burj Khalifa). He has published over 30 papers on pile behaviour in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Basile currently is a UK member of ISSMGE committee TC212 "Deep Foundations" and an Italian delegate on Eurocode 7 TC250 committees "Pile foundations" and "Numerical Analysis".
