I am currently a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTD-B) in the DEI department of the University of Bologna. Previously, I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the Integrated Systems Laboratory of ETH Zurich in the Digital Systems group led by Prof. Luca Benini, and I hold a research grant in the Energy-Efficient Embedded Systems Laboratory at the DEI department of University of Bologna. I obtained my PhD degree in Electronics in the same Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering of the University of Bologna, in the group led by Prof. Luca Benini. From January to April 2015, I have also been a visiting PhD Student in the Robust Systems Group at Stanford University, led by Prof. Subhashish Mitra, and I have been a constant collaborator of the Integrated Systems Laboratory at ETH Zurich from July 2015 on.The main interest of my research work are heterogeneous multicore architectures, in particular for energy-efficient and low-power embedded systems. I explore this field both from an architectural point of view and from a hardware design point of view, with particular attention to applications of deep learning and brain-inspired models and architectures to embedded computer vision. I am a proficient RTL designer in SystemVerilog, Verilog and VHDL and a qualified embedded C developer, being interested in the entire technological stack "from C to Silicon".I have been the recipient of two Best Paper awards at IEEE conferences and have served as a reviewer for international journals (IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design; Transactions on Circuits and Systems; EURASIP) and conferences.Out of the lab, I am passionate about politics, photography, consumer electronics, traveling, hiking in the mountains, and much else.
