My research activity is focused on the study of phenomena occurring at the interface between different materials, both organic and inorganic with low-dimensionality. A special attention is given to hybrid-interfaces and materials with peculiar magnetic behavior for potential applications in the fields of spintronics, photovoltaic technologies, and batteries. During my PhD in Politecnico di Milano I had the opportunity to get a lot of expertise in material science and physics of surfaces, with some precious time spent at the Electra Synchrotron in Trieste (IT) and at the Diamond Light Source Synchrotron in Didcot (UK).The main experimental techniques that I used are: -> X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS)-> Angle and Spin Resolved Ultraviolet Photoemission Spectroscopy (AR-UPS, SR-UPS)-> Angle and Spin Resolved Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy (AR-IPES, SR-IPES)-> Near Edge X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (NEXAFS)-> Reflectance Anisotropy Spectroscopy (RAS)-> Molecular Beam Epitaxy and Organic Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE, OMBE)->Low Energy Electron Eiffraction (LEED)All the experimental techniques mentioned give access to the structural, electronic, optical and magnetic properties of the samples. Both the sample preparation and characterization are performed in ultra-high vacuum conditions to preserve the physical properties of the surface.
