Responsible for following activities in the role of GM Production:Works with Account Dept and Creative to determine client printing needs; develops cost estimates to provide three vendor bids and, when necessary, provides information for alternative approaches; provides technical guidance and printing specifications to ensure cost-effective and efficient production; works with Project Management to determine schedules.Monitors jobs for accuracy, completeness, quality and timeliness. Responsible for routing contract color proofs according to Agency procedures and attends press checks when necessary. Understands and follows Agency purchase order and invoice processing procedures. Writes and distributes purchase orders and ensures that suppliers are receiving complete information and instructions to provide accurate, quality service.Interviews, categorizes and qualifies new vendors as to their suitability to work with the Agency; vendor relations including addressing their financial and other concerns; performance evaluation of vendors; oversight of production and premium department’s “source of supply” files, technical “swipe” files and paper sample files.Assists and trains other staff in technical aspects of production, purchasing fundamentals, management principles and techniques. Stays current with developments in the print industry.
